China

Magnificent Places
in China
1. Zhangye Danxia, China

These colorful rock formations are located in Zhangye Danxia, in Gansu Province, China. They are the result of sediment deposition layers of different colors for 24 million years between two tectonic plates, with the help of erosion created these colorful landscapes. I suspect photographers of abusing some saturation when they take these pictures, but even by imagining the dullest these landscapes are magical.

The site covers a total area of more than 260km². The part that interests us, Zhangjiajie, covers 13 square kilometers covered with rivers, caves, waterfalls, but is best known for the forest of hundreds of karst peaks emerging from a subtropical forest and create a unique landscape.

Li River in Guilin is a tributary of the Xijiang River in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The length of the river is 437 km before emptying into the Xijiang River in Wuzhou. This river runs through the cities of Guilin and Yangshuo and winds through a landscape that inspired Chinese artists for over a thousand years. The engraving of the 20 yuan ticket reproduces.
